Student Misconceptions in Learning
Every student has a unique way of thinking, learning and making sense of what he/she hears or sees. Their active imagination is constantly building new connections and assimilating new information. Research shows that these thought processes contribute to how a child learns. However, some faulty ideas can lead to several learning gaps. These learning gaps need to be identified, questioned and corrected before they result into what are called alternate conceptions or misconceptions.
Educational Initiatives and Wirpo Applying Thought in School will be launching a Video Series on the Student Misconceoptions on the 29th of November 2008.

I agree to this statement whole heartedly as it is very important to identify the problem of the child. In order to identify the academic deficiency the teachers have to consciously work on the psyche of the child to know the strengths and the weaknesses of the child, then they stop branding the children that he /she is a dud, can’t learn etc. Special battery of tests like “Asset” has to be conducted to identify the problems for constant academic backwardness among the children and once it is identified as problem of mis conception rather than learning deficiency the teachers have to go the grass root levels of the subject and reteach the basics.Though it is time consuming ,it is the responsibility of the schools to do it to strengthen the concepts.Quality teaching is more important than the quantity !teaching.
It is very important to identify such misconceptions at early stages and treat them in class. Without a solid foundation learning is piled up on children, year after year, and it becomes very difficult to go back and treat such problems at a later stage.
I congratulate the efforts of EI and Wipro for their efforts.
I would express my thanks to EI team for putting in their efforts to bring out the untouched areas of teaching-learning process.

yes i do agree with this. as i have asked this question to many people but even elder people could not answer the right. i think some more question should be placed in website so that we can understand the matter and teach our kids the right.
thanks to asset.
